This is a small agency, but the majority of our client relationships began with unsolicited approaches, and we remain open to enquiries by email from both unpublished and established authors seeking representation. Please do not post or bring manuscripts to our office. Instead, please follow this simple procedure:
Send a brief enquiry (or even a blank email) to firstname.lastname@example.org. You should receive an auto-responder containing our most up-to-date submission guidelines. When you are ready, email your submission to the address provided in the auto-responder. Within a short time you should receive an acknowledgement confirming its safe receipt.
Note that we operate this system because it works effectively as a spam filter, giving us more time to read genuine submissions. It also facilitates changes to our submission guidelines, although these tend to be very straightforward. We generally ask for a writing sample (one to three chapters of a novel, for example) and accept attachments in most formats. We never charge a reading fee.
We cannot reply personally to everyone, but respond as quickly as possible to submissions that are of interest, and always aim to do so within six weeks. Occasionally we get a backlog which can increase the response time to ten weeks. If you haven’t heard from us within this time, please feel free to send us a follow-up email.
