The agency welcomes enquiries by email from both new and established authors. We no longer accept enquiries or initial submissions by post.

Please follow this procedure:

Send a brief enquiry, or even a blank email, to You should receive an auto-responder containing our most up-to-date submission guidelines. We generally ask for a writing sample – two or three chapters of a novel, for example – and accept attachments in most formats. We never charge a reading fee.

Email your submission to the address provided in the auto-responder. You should then receive an acknowledgement confirming its safe receipt. (Note that we operate this system because it works very effectively as a spam filter. It also facilitates temporary changes to our submission guidelines.)

We respond as quickly as possible to submissions that are of interest, and always aim to do so within 6 weeks. However, we do occasionally get a backlog which can increase the response time to 10 weeks. If you haven’t heard from us within this time, please feel free to send a follow-up email.

We do not expect initial submissions to be sent to us on an exclusive basis, although when requesting a complete manuscript after reading a sample, we may enquire after its submission status elsewhere.
